The Made in Tennessee program, launched in 2013, is a free membership initiative of the UT Center for Industrial Services (UT CIS) designed to support and promote Tennessee's manufacturing community. By joining the program, manufacturers gain access to an online directory that connects them with other businesses and customers, enhancing visibility and fostering growth. The program also highlights local manufacturers as Manufacturer of the Week on our UT CIS social media platforms.
Made in Tennessee registers manufacturers with NAICS codes 31-33 (excluding 311and 312 food producers) with a production facility in Tennessee. Members of the program can proudly display the "Made in Tennessee" logo on their products, packaging, and promotional materials, signaling their commitment to quality and local production. This initiative not only boosts the profile of Tennessee-made products but also helps foster local supply chains and boosts the state's economic resilience.
Membership has grown to 216 manufacturers after welcoming seventeen new companies in 2024. The program features the state's broad manufacturing capabilities, including musical instruments, furniture, household products, electronics, textiles, sporting goods, and more.

Discover the Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee!
Tennessee's manufacturing industry was front and center in 2024 as the first annual "Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee" contest celebrated the state's innovative spirit and diverse production capabilities. Jointly hosted by the Tennessee Manufacturers Association, the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce, and Made in Tennessee, the competition highlighted the incredible range of products made right here in the Volunteer State, from innovative products to advanced machinery and automotive parts.
The inaugural contest saw over one hundred fantastic products nominated, with more than 75,000 votes cast by the public to determine the winner. The competition not only highlighted the coolest products but also signified the importance of manufacturing to Tennessee's economy, which employs approximately eleven percent of the state’s total employment.
The winner of the 2024 "Coolest Thing Made in Tennessee" contest was the Nissan Rogue. Manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee, the 2024 Nissan Rogue is a mid-size crossover known for its latest look, excellent fuel efficiency, updated technology and spacious interior.
