What is Improvement Kata?
The Improvement Kata is the routine that drives daily improvement, which is practiced every day at all processes to make it a habit.

Why is Improvement Kata/Coaching Kata needed? 
Our traditional LEAN and Continuous Improvement systems lose energy, and their gains over time.  Toyota Kata results in a sustaining culture that is focused on daily improvement. 

UT CIS provides training and implementation assistance on the concepts of Toyota Kata, including:
The Improvement Kata: The daily routine that drives daily improvement.
The Coaching Kata: A daily routine for teaching the Improvement Kata thinking pattern, and reinforces it, to sustain the continuous improvement.

Improvement Kata/Coaching Kata assistance provided by UT CIS:
  • 1-day Improvement Kata/Coaching Kata Workshop
An 8 hour interactive workshop focused on awareness training of the Improvement Kata/Coaching Kata concepts.  In this workshop we learn and apply the Improvement Kata to a simulated production operation and practice the daily Coaching Kata dialog. 
  • 3-day Improvement Kata/Coaching Kata Workshop
A 3-day (24 hour) interactive workshop focused on training of the Improvement Kata/Coaching Kata concepts.  In this workshop we learn and apply the Improvement Kata to a selected production process at the customer's plant, and practice the daily PDCA Cycles and Coaching Kata dialog.
