Lean Certificate Series

The Lean Certificate Series provides a detailed exploration of the core Lean tools and prepares students for leading a Lean initiative.

Consider it if you:

  • are leading a Lean implementation.
  • are part of the plant’s Lean team.
  • are the new Lean champion.
  • want to be a Lean champion.
  • want to know what your Lean champion is doing.

Using a value stream map, participants will begin prioritizing Kaizen events to eliminate waste as quickly as possible. They will gain working knowledge of proven and practical Lean manufacturing tools, such as:

  • Value stream mapping
  • Workplace organization and visual controls (5-S system)
  • Quick changeover
  • Pull/Kanban systems
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Standardized work
  • Cellular Manufacturing
  • Lean office
  • Mistake Proofing

Through a combination of hands-on learning and classroom instruction, this thirty two hour (4 day) event will provide participants with the skills to lead the Lean initiative at their facility.

If you are preparing for the Bronze Certification exam by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the curriculum for this course has been aligned with SME, the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) and Shingo Prize Lean Certification body of knowledge. While taking the class does not guarantee passing the exam, it does provide training knowledge required for the exam.
