To get the most out of the CONNEX Marketplace it is essential that you fully complete your company profile and capability statement.
When a buyer searches for a new supplier to meet their needs, the CONNEX algorithm filters through 140,000+ company profiles and ranks them according to how closely the company’s capabilities match the buyer’s needs. Those with a strong match will appear at the top of the search results and get notified of buyers needs first. Therefore, the amount of new business opportunity notifications you receive, and where your company ranks in search results, is directly related to the completeness of your profile. You may offer the exact services that a buyer is looking for, but unless your profile is fully complete, they will likely never find you.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought to light a stark reality about current supply chains. As Nissan Motor Co.’s Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta points out, “The just-in-time model is designed for supply-chain efficiencies and economies of scale. The repercussions of an unprecedented crisis like COVID highlight the fragility of our supply-chain model.”
The U.S. supply chain has so far struggled to adapt and restock pandemic-depleted inventories. In a recent webinar, several MEP National Network sister agencies shared strategies for identifying and mitigating supply chain risks. CONNEX™ TENNESSEE is a service that provides companies the ability to search other Tennessee companies to find a potential supplier. This is especially useful when companies are looking for local alternate suppliers, because there are experiencing problems getting the materials they need to run their factory from their existing suppliers. There are many stories in the news about the reshoring initiatives by US based companies to address this problem.
There is typically an annual fee for companies to expand their supplier search to other states beyond Tennessee. However, we have a current promotion that allows companies national search access “free forever” if they sign-up for CONNEX™ TENNESSEE by August 31, and upgrade to national access using the code: CMFFTN
Here's how you can sign up using the code:

Many manufacturers are pursuing domestic sourcing for materials and supplies as a way to overcome supply chain disruptions. In many ways the disruptions show how small manufacturers are more critical than ever. Many big companies are looking for additional domestic sourcing and do not want to take on additional liabilities and capital investments from bringing more in-house.
Those companies also are looking for trusted relationships in their supply chains that will work with them to provide added value from sustainable solutions and even product development.
The efforts to find domestic sourcing are shedding light on the many benefits that small and medium-sized manufacturers might not have considered in the past, such as total cost of ownership and innovating alongside their suppliers.

Fri, 06/03/2022 - 12:40
Launching in June, CONNEX™ Tennessee is a powerful online manufacturer-supplier database and connectivity platform provided as a no-cost resource for Tennessee manufacturers and suppliers.
The platform will combine Tennessee manufacturer and supplier data into a single, accurate, searchable scouting-database to better connect manufacturers, provide supply chain visualizations and display workforce and R&D efforts within a region. This will allow manufacturers and suppliers to quickly visualize supply chain risk, scout for qualified suppliers and discover new business opportunities.
UT CIS hosted a webinar on June 10 to provide manufacturers with more information about CONNEX™ Tennessee. You can watch the webinar below and on our YouTube channel.

April is National Supply Chain Integrity Month, and CISA is promoting a call to action to “Fortify The Chain”.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) ICT Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) Task Force is pleased to share a new resource that focuses on the issues surrounding the facilitation of sharing supply chain risk information (SCRI), among the federal government and industry. The sharing of supply chain threat information between the government and private industry is an important avenue in which to mitigate the threats to the nation’s ICT supply chain.
This research report, Preliminary Considerations of Paths to Enable Improved Multi-Directional Supply Chain Risk Information, focuses on ways to limit certain state law causes of action that businesses may be subject to by virtue of sharing SCRI. The report offers research by subject matter experts on legal and policy considerations to be utilized by private enterprises or government in seeking to address the issue of liability limitations.
Furthermore, the report evaluates the barriers to multi-directional sharing of more specific SCRM information and identifies the single most impactful barrier: the absence of legal liability protection for those who share well-founded risk insight. The report details proposed additional liability protections for consideration as methods to maximize protection for private entities seeking to take part in an SCRI-sharing framework and ultimately, to improve the volume and quality of SCRI shared across and among the private and public sector.

April is National Supply Chain Integrity Month, and The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is promoting a call to action to “Fortify The Chain”.
Over the past year, CISA's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) Task Force worked to better understand the small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) community’s unique needs on how best to mitigate and communicate ICT supply chain risk.
As a result, the Task Force developed a guide that identifies use cases commonly encountered by small and medium-sized IT and Communications providers, and selected questions from the Task Force’s previously-released product, the Vendor SCRM Template, that are most relevant to SMBs for each use case.
The SMB guide, Operationalizing the Vendor Supply Chain Risk Management Template for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, includes standardized questions intended to communicate ICT supply chain risk posture from the perspective of the SMB as the acquirer, supplier, or integrator in order to achieve better outcomes.
The SMB guide also includes an easy-to-use spreadsheet as an alternate tool, which contains the same questions and allows options to accommodate yes, no, or partial responses to each of the questions. To learn more, watch this video.

April is National Supply Chain Integrity Month, and CISA is promoting a call to action to “Fortify The Chain”.
One of the key efforts for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) Task Force is identifying processes and criteria for threat-based evaluation of ICT suppliers, products, and services. In the latest release of the Threat Scenarios Report, Supplier, Products, and Services Threat Evaluation (to include Impact Analysis and Mitigation), Version 3.0, the Task Force used threat evaluation methodology to add the assessment of threats and impacts to products and services in the supply chain, and include scenario-specific impacts and mitigating controls to the supplier threat scenarios.
Acquisition professionals in government and industry can use this guidance during procurement or source selection to assess supply chain risks and develop practices/procedures to manage the potential impact of these threats. The report’s process and resulting narratives not only serve as a baseline evaluation of specific SCRM threats, but also can be used as additional guidance for applying the NIST Risk Management Framework.
Additionally, this process can be extended for evaluating products and services, as well as replicated for other critical infrastructure providers.
