eSpin Technologies: APEX Client to Receive up to $6.3 Million from the Department of Energy for Clean Hydrogen Project
eSpin Technologies, Inc., a Chattanooga-based company, is a global leader in nanofiber-based filter media production. The company’s nanofiber media can be found in a diverse range of products for a variety of applications, including manufacturing, energy, aerospace, and medicine.
eSpin has been a client of the Tennessee APEX Accelerator, previously known as PTAC, since March of 2015. The APEX Accelerator has been able to assist the company in growing into the federal marketplace – specifically into the Defense Industrial Base. The APEX Accelerator was also instrumental in guiding eSpin through the process of filing the company’s 8(a) application and developing its GSA Schedule.
Since becoming an APEX Accelerator client, the company has won several prime contracts with the Missile Defense Agency and the Department of Energy. In March of 2024, eSpin and its partners were selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to negotiate a project that could amount to as much as $6.3 million in federal funds. The project will develop and produce a novel separator employing nanofiber technology for liquid alkaline electrolyzers.
When asked about the benefit of being an APEX Accelerator client, Dr. Jayesh Doshi, founder of eSpin Technologies had this to say: “This is a great time to be a small manufacturer providing U.S.-made products and creating local jobs. APEX has done an amazing job in coaching and training the eSpin team to approach government contract opportunities.”
Tennessee APEX Accelerator Program Manager Paul Middlebrooks said, “The APEX staff is more than thrilled to see the growth and impact that eSpin is having on the State of Tennessee and the Department of Defense as a whole.”
