BRAAV LLC is a wholesale distributor of electrical supplies, equipment, and other related products. Angela Curtis, President & CEO of BRAAV became a client of the Tennessee APEX Accelerator, formerly PTAC, on the advice of her Tennessee Small Business Development counselor. BRAAV recently earned a contract with the Metropolitan Airport Authority.
Since engaging with the APEX Accelerator, Angela has worked closely with Middle Tennessee Counselor Debbie Barber. Debbie has guided Angela through the process of becoming a Small Business Administration Certified Minority Woman Owned Small Business and certified HUBZone Business. Debbie also helped her identify potential government markets and make informed decisions to target relevant contracts.
Although Debbie has provided guidance and support along the way, Angela has done her part by participating in many of the free training programs and workshops the APEX Accelerator offers to learn more about the process, regulations, and best practices and applying what she has learned to her business.
Angela says, “Working with Debbie has been a game-changer for my business. She provided invaluable insights, guiding me through the intricacies of the process, such as getting registered in SAM.gov and certified as a diverse, minority, woman-owned business with various agencies. Her expertise was particularly evident when it came to understanding the specific requirements of the contract I was pursuing. Her continual support gave me the confidence to navigate each step, and I felt reassured that I was on the right track. Her commitment to my success was evident, and I attribute winning the contract, in large part, to her expertise and support.”
According to Debbie Barber, “I am so proud of Angela! She persevered and won her first award a year after our initial meeting.”
