CIS MEP Team to Attend Tennessee HR Conference

There are more mountains in Tennessee than those that lift up a huge part of the eastern third of our state. Tennessee’s human resource professionals face a mountain of challenges in today’s tight labor markets. It seems appropriate that these HR pros are heading to the Smoky Mountains next month to network and connect with each other, learn how to engage their workforces more effectively, and ignite some excitement among their teams.

Your Tennessee Manufacturing Extension Partnership (TN MEP) team with the UT Center for Industrial Services is excited to be at this year’s SHRM conference Sept 19 thru 21 in Sevierville. https://tnshrm.org/meetinginfo.php

TN MEP works to achieve manufacturing excellence across the State of Tennessee by delivering technical assistance in the form of training and consulting to small- and medium-sized manufacturers. TN MEP leverages university resources, government relationships, and economic development partnerships to provide excellence in training, consulting, and customer service.

The theme for this year’s SHRM conference is Connect/Engage/Ignite.

TN MEP can help connect manufacturing leaders to multiple facets of the workforce development system across the state. For over two decades we have supported hundreds of Tennessee manufacturers by connecting them to the top training partners, the latest information on state led initiatives in workforce development, and possible funding opportunities.  As the go-to resource for strategic workforce development services and coaching, TN MEP works with manufacturers to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in its workforce strategies and planning.

Workplace culture is more important now than ever before. According to a study by Deloitte, only about 30 percent of American workers are engaged. TN MEP can help companies engage their current workforce through process improvement initiatives, leadership development and other cultural change efforts.

With a focus on workplace development, TN MEP can help employers take a close look at their internal workforce development efforts to determine where gaps and opportunities exist.  TN MEP’s workforce development specialist works directly with manufacturers to ensure they are positioned to attract local talent and retain existing talent as demands and technologies change.

Igniting innovation and excitement among multiple generations is another mountain of a challenge facing HR pros. TN MEP is part of the NIST MEP national network, which includes centers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico and is supported by the U.S. Department of Commerce. As a part of the national network, TN MEP has access to best practices across specific industries and the ability to leverage new and innovative approaches to workforce development that other companies in other states are using.

TN MEP focuses on creating value and strengthening manufacturers’ competitiveness by boosting growth, improving productivity, reducing costs, and increasing capacity through customized and hands-on solutions and implementation. TN MEP empowers Tennessee’s manufacturers and supports workforce development at multiple levels from front door to back door, from the C-Suite to the plant floor.

If you or your HR leader are planning to be at this SHRM conference, be sure to stop by booth 102 and learn more about how we can help you scale those workforce development mountains now and in the future.
