Manufacturing accounts for 11% of U.S. GDP and 68% of U.S. exports of goods. Advances in manufacturing technology and innovation have enabled the U.S. economy to grow, increase productivity, develop new products, and create entirely new industries.
Manufacturing - especially advanced manufacturing - is also one of the highest-paying sectors of the economy and has an enormous multiplier effect on other sectors. For every dollar spent in manufacturing, an additional $2.74 is added to the economy.
Manufacturing USA® is a network of public-private partnerships united to secure U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing through large scale collaboration on technology, supply chain, and workforce development. The organization recently released its Manufacturing USA 2019/2020 Highlights Report that highlights the manufacturing technology and workforce development innovations underway at the manufacturing innovation institutes that are part of Manufacturing USA®. Institutes work with members from the manufacturing industry, academia, government entities and non-profits on pre-competitive development of critical technologies and the skills needed by the workforce to leverage them into manufacturing.
UT CIS, as part of the MEP National Network, can provide direct connections to any of the sixteen Manufacturing USA® Institutes. Contact our Manufacturing Consultant Danny Norman today for additional information.
