UT CIS Hosts East Tennessee Industrial Council

Dr. Don Bruce, Associate Director of the UT Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, recently spoke to the East Tennessee Industrial Council (ETIC) hosted by UT Center for Industrial Services, an agency of the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service. ETIC is comprised of professionals involved in economic development in the East Tennessee region.  The members of ETIC look forward to the January meeting each year to hear a summary of the annual Economic Report to the Governor.

This year’s discussion centered largely on the state of the labor market in Tennessee and how the pandemic has impacted the labor market’s slower recovery, as compared to other segments of the economy.  On the bright side, Dr. Bruce shared that Tennessee’s overall economy is faring better as compared to the U.S. and Tennessee’s real GDP has fully recovered.

The UT Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research publishes an annual report to the Governor of the state of TN in response to requests by state government officials for assistance in achieving greater interdepartmental consistency and planning and budgeting efforts sensitive to the overall economic environment.  Click here to read the full 2022 Economic Report to the Governor of the State of Tennessee.
